From: Ian Storey <istorey@trentu.ca> The Department of Ancient History & Classics at Trent University announces with great sadness that one its founding members, Professor Janet Bews, passed away in her sleep on Sunday 27 August. She had been battling cancer for some months and died at her home. She was one of the first members of the Classics Department, joining Trent University in 1966 and remaining as one of its pillars until her retirement in 1999. A longer and more detailed memorial of her life and career will, I hope, appear at a later date. The funeral will be held tomorrow (Tuesday 29 August) at All Saints Church, Peterborough.
