Tenure track position:
Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology and Civilisation

The Department of Ancient History and Classics at Trent University <http://www.trentu.ca/ahc/> invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank beginning 1 July 2004, subject to budgetary approval.  The successful applicant who holds the PhD has a proven record both as an effective and versatile undergraduate teacher and as a scholar with an ongoing and preferably externally funded research programme in Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology and Civilisation; some administrative experience would be an asset.  She or he will teach in 2004-05 at least one course in those fields as well as a course in Classical Civilisation (Women in Greece and Rome), and over the coming years other courses, as required by the staffing situation in any given year, including ancient Greek and Latin.  Applications, accompanied by the usual documentation and supported by three letters of reference, should be sent to: K.H. Kinzl, Chair, Department of Ancient History and Classics, 1600 Riverside Drive, Trent University, Peterborough ON  K9J 7B8; informal enquiries may be sent to <kkinzl@trentu.ca>.  The deadline for applications is 1 December, 2003.  All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Trent University is an employment equity employer, and especially invites applications from women, aboriginal people, visible minorities and people with disabilities.
