TRENT UNIVERSITY

The Department of Ancient History & Classics invites applications for a limited term appointment of nine months at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and teaching experience, to begin September 1, 2004. The appointment is subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a first-year course (full-year) in classical drama (Greek drama in translation) and two half-year courses in classical civilization on Women in the Greek/Roman World (second year) in Peterborough. The candidate will be asked to assist with one other course within the Department which may include a classical drama course at the Oshawa campus.

Applicants, who should demonstrate both good teaching ability and potential as scholars, should have a Ph.D. or be very near completion and should address their applications to:

We would like to announce a new publication of the Centre for Hellenic Civilization at the University of Manitoba. The book is a Festschrift dedicated to our former Department head and Professor Emeritus, and is entitled Daimonopylai: Essays in Classics and the Classical Tradition Presented to Edmund G Berry.
