I would like to take this opportunity to thank John for his work and to congratulate him on a job well done. At the same time, i would like to welcome Michael Fronda & Renaud Gagné of McGill University, who will take over John’s tasks. The web page now has a new address: http://cac-scec.ca/. From: Jonathan Edmondson <jedmond@yorku.ca> DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY, FACULTY OF ARTS ANCIENT HISTORY The Department of History, Faculty of Arts, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in ancient Greco-Roman history, with a preference for one or more of the following areas: women and/or gender; Greco-Roman Egypt; the Hellenistic period; Late Antiquity. The position, to commence on 1 July 2007, is subject to budgetary approval. Requirements include a completed PhD in History or equivalent discipline and an ongoing program of historical research in the area of specialization. Candidates are expected to demonstrate promise of excellence in teaching at all levels as well as in scholarly research and publication. The successful candidate should be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. York University is an Affirmative Action Employer. From: Joann Freed <jfreed@wlu.ca> The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies invites applications for a one-year Limited Term position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2007, subject to budgetary approval. We would be particularly interested in a candidate with a research specialty in Roman archaeology and archaeological field experience in the Mediterranean world, but welcome applications from candidates who can teach a range of courses in Classical languages and civilization. Successful candidates will have completed a PhD by the time of appointment. We are looking for a Hellenist whose area of concentration is Greek history (the period of specialization is open; an interest in military, social or cultural history is preferred). Applicants, who will have a completed doctorate, should also have broad expertise in Greek and Roman language and literature and a real commitment to teaching at all levels, from undergraduate to graduate. The Chair-holder in Aegean Prehistory must have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, ability to supervise graduate students and have an outstanding record of scholarly achievement. The position is at the rank of Associate Professor or mid-career Full Professor with tenure, to begin July 1, 2007. A background in Greek and Roman art and culture would be welcome; commitment to fieldwork also an asset. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
