TRENT UNIVERSITY

The Department of Ancient History and Classics invites applications for individual course stipends for the 2011/12 academic year: on our Peterborough campus, AHCL-WMST 2310H ('Women in the Greek World', Fall term), AHCL-WMST 2320H ('Women in the Roman World', Winter term), AHCL 3100H ('The Athenian Empire', Winter term), and AHCL 3130H ('The Augustan Principate & Its Origins', Fall term); and on our Oshawa campus, AHCL 2100Y ('Introduction to Ancient History', full-year course). All appointments are subject to budgetary approval. Courses ending in Y are full-year courses (Sept.-Apr., 1.0 credit); those ending in H are one-term (0.5 credit). These courses cannot be combined into a full-time position, but it may be possible for a single instructor to teach more than one course, to a maximum total of 1.5 credits between September and April.

Applicants should preferably have a Ph.D., have a demonstrated ability in undergraduate instruction, and an interest and expertise in Classical Studies. For more details on each stipend and instructions for applying, please go to www.trentu.ca/dean/ptfaculty_ahc.php.

Applications must be received in electronic format by 4:00 p.m. EST on Friday, June 17, 2011. Trent University is an employment equity employer and especially invites applications from women, Aboriginal persons, visible minorities and persons with disabilities. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
