Mary Kathleen Conacher
Born: November 10th , 1922, Hopwas, England; Died: April 12 th , 2025, Toronto, Canada. We are deeply saddened by the death of our mother, our grandmother, on April 12th , 2025. Predeceased
by her husband Desmond in 2000, she is survived by her children Hugh and Susan, grandchildren
Genevieve and Kyra, and many close friends and relatives.Mary grew up in Hopwas, England and by the end of the Second World War was a physiotherapist at
Charing Cross Hospital in London. Once the war was over, she and her best friend decided they wanted
to travel around the world and so they hopped on a boat and came to Canada via New York. They found jobs as physiotherapists in Saskatoon and in the early 50s, Mary met her future husband and
so decided to stay. Mary and Desmond were married in 1957 and moved to Toronto where he had a job
as a Professor of Classics at the University of Toronto and she raised her family. She loved to play tennis
and rode her bike everywhere. She was very active in the community and in her local church. She lived
in her house on Manor Road until moving to Briton House at the age of 90. Mary will be remembered
for her warmth, her generosity, and her sense of humour. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at the Briton House who cared for her
with kindness and empathy.A celebration of life will be held at the Church of the Transfiguration in Toronto at 11.30 AM on June

Hello,
My name is tUkU. I am a second generation music creative from a lineage of Black Jazz Artists originating from Newark, NJ. I was born and raised in Toronto and studied Latin from Grades 9-12 at Bishop Strachan School and North Toronto Collegiate respectively. I did my undergraduate studies at Howard University as a Latin Language major. I did not complete my studies as I changed course and became a full-time music creative.
Over the past few years, I have been contemplating returning to school to complete my degree programming from many years ago. I would love to know more about your association and perhaps receive guidance and insight around what my pathway might be to achieve this. I am definitely interested in joining and meeting other fellow classicists. Part of my strategy is also to create a path of study in support of an independent music project I wish to explore around Sappho.
I look forward to your response. Forgive me for being longwinded but I am a fully certified nerd and I am excited about discovering the CAC.
Most kind,
tUkU
